Building communities and the future of the industry

Carpenters from Madison Park Vocational High School in Boston were featured on CBS Boston 4 News last week for their work building a house in the city's Roxbury neighborhood with YouthBuild and the New England Regional Council of Carpenters.

The students are getting real-world experience and working alongside instructors and union carpenters. The story shows the benefits vocational instruction and features students talking about their pride, their skills and their future. One mentions that his goal is to become a union carpenter.

Local 723's Tim Tudor who has worked with YouthBuild, the New England Carpenters Training Fund and numerous community projects, is managing the project and also featured in the piece.

The home will be completed in June and sold to a moderate-income first-time home-buyer.
